Construction Process
How do we make luxury affordable? It begins with revolutionizing the homebuying process. Buying your SOL+House is designed to be even easier than ordering a car. A variety of packages allow you to quickly customize your home to fit your needs and budget while still knowing exactly what your home will cost. Further, our module-based design makes it easy to easy to expand SOL+House to your needs without the expense or delay associated with redrafting building plans.
What truly sets SOL+House apart, however, is our construction process. Time is money, and conventional site-built construction wastes a lot of it. Weather days, delayed materials, theft, movement of materials, and countless other issues greatly extend the build process on-site. Through our partnership with Volumetric Building Companies (VBC), SOL+House avoids this. VBC is a global leader in volumetric modular construction: a process which completes projects up to 50% faster than conventional, on-site construction methods (according to McKinsey & Company), and SOL+House’s design is specifically optimized for their manufacturing process.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”952″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”middle”][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”953″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]
Why modular?
Still picturing factory-built homes as a low-quality mobile home? Think again. Modular construction has seen rapid advances in recent years and is used for everything from small single-family homes to large mid-rise commercial buildings, and each project is engineered to meet the same building codes that a site-built home would need to follow for the lot it will be put on, providing you with a better-quality home at a lower cost. How does factory construction save money? In addition to shortening construction schedules, factory construction also reduces material costs. First, it allows high-volume factories to purchase materials in much greater quantities at once than a site-built home would and store them in climate-controlled warehouses. This results in higher-quality materials that need less rework due to issues such as warped subfloors, reduces transportation costs by saving trips, and provides the factories with discounts from material suppliers that smaller builders would not attain. Second, by ordering components in large quantities and using them in all their projects, factory builders even have ways of creating high-end products such as backlit bathroom mirrors in house and installing them for an equal, or lower, price as standard mirrors for a site-built home. Finally, through systems such as computerized cutting machines for precise cuts with algorithms to determine where scraps can be used elsewhere in the project, factory construction significantly reduces waste, helping to save both money and the environment.
SOL+House believes this is the future of construction, and we are proud to be partnered with an industry leader helping us reduce costs, increase production, and improve quality.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”middle”][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]
Features
SOL+House is designed to reduce your housing costs well beyond its construction, though. By designing our home to meet the ultra-high-performance Passive House and Net-Zero standards, we worked to ensure that you have one of the most air-tight, well insulated, and energy efficient homes you can build. As a net-zero ready home, when equipped with solar panels on a suitable parcel of land, it even powers itself. For more information on SOL+House’s performance, click the Environment link under the design heading.
Going beyond the physical construction, SOL+House utilizes technology throughout the home to maintain a healthy, comfortable, and efficient environment in the home. From adjusting solar panel positions to follow the sun, controlling lighting and HVAC based on room occupancy, and adjusting ventilation based on real-time air quality monitoring, SOL+House was designed around AI and computer controls to maximize efficiency. AI is more than just a marketing buzzword; it’s the center of our design.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”954″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
